About The Studio

Russell's Story

Raised in Bath, Russell discovered his creative spirit as a boy. His mother, a keen artist and ceramicist, encouraged her artist son to follow his dreams – and he did. Firstly to art school in Bath and then to Central Saint Martins where he studied both womenswear and sculpture. Having graduated, his entrepreneurial streak led him to open an interior design business in Bath, before returning to London to complete his Masters degree in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins. Having graduated in 1998, he launched his eponymous fashion label, quickly becoming a star of London Fashion Week. But his great love of interiors drew him back and in 2005 he opened Russell Sage Studio.

Alongside his own design studio, Russell was creative director of Cordings from 2006-2008 and has been the creative director and co-owner of Gainsborough Silk Weavers since 2010.

How we work

Under Russell’s direction, each member of the team is passionately committed to the creation and delivery of truly authentic, compelling interior schemes, which aim to engage and surprise all who experience them.

Spending time with and listening to our clients to truly understand their unique needs, is our forte. And while Russell is renowned for his inspiring and fearless creativity, his boundless enthusiasm for designing extraordinary hospitality and residential experiences, it’s also the joy of collaboration and an eye for the smaller details, both front and back of house, that results in the most thrilling interiors. Delivering on time and on budget is key to our studio’s ethos.

Our Philosophy

At Russell Sage Studio, long-standing relationships and client satisfaction are paramount to us, which is why we remain at your service long after a project has finished – we are always happy to help. Developing a bespoke story that is perfect for each client, a space that is timeless, beautiful, functional and durable, is our great pleasure.
