In what was a Victorian warehouse, which was opened as Merchants Tavern four years ago, Russell Sage Studio was invited to reimagine the entrance and front bar area of the space. Working closely to preserve and restore, as this is a listed building, the studio kept the bar as it was, but was able to relight the entire restaurant, add textiles including curtains to soften the look and bring in new furniture to upgrade the hospitality experience. The key was to maintain what is already an upbeat and warm atmosphere, but ensure that the venue functioned more efficiently.
